I did battle with my 1961 Singer sewing machine tonight and lost. It’s not fun feeling defeated by such an old piece of machinery, but the lack of a manual and the absence of guidance specific to this mid-century model online (at least from as far as I can tell so far) combined with my own deficiencies has resulted in a stalemate. The machine isn’t going anywhere; it’s up to me to decide whether I can go another round.
I may resort to my usual back-up of hand sewing for my latest project (pantry door curtains), which is certainly the greenest option. So there is always a bright side, isn’t there.
